Palato do CôaDouro Superior · Portugal

Every label, a decision.

The house brings together three Douro ranges. Palato do Côa and Vinha da Migalha come from the estate in Muxagata; Vinhas do Côa is Douro DOC and combines grapes from two estates owned by the partners.

Vinhas do Côa

The freshness of the Côa

Freshness for every day.

In the reds, the three base Douro varieties — Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz; the range also has a white and a rosé. All fermented in stainless steel under temperature control, so the fruit reaches the glass fresh. The harvest is by hand, in 18-kilo crates.

Palato do Côa

DOC Douro · Quinta do Palato

The heart of the project.

Every grape comes from the estate — none is ever bought. They arrive in 18-kilo crates and spend 24 hours in cold storage before entering the winery: in the Douro Superior, heat dries the grape out before it ever reaches the press.

Craft · The lotsEach barrel carries its lot chalked on the head — “Lote Especial”, “Colheita”. A wine is the sum of them.

Vinha da Migalha

Old vines · Limited edition

A singular plot.

Old vines over fifty years of age, in a planting of traditional varieties no one counts one by one any more. Extraction is by foot treading in the lagar — the only method gentle enough for fruit like this. And the oak adds nothing: it frames what the vineyard built.

Rows of old, gnarled vines against the valley
Craft · The vineTwo or three bunches per vine. That is where the name comes from, and why there are 380 bottles.
