PALATO DO CÔA

A good story usually starts in a distant time.

Palato do Côa’s story is most recent, going back to 2007, but it is supported by the winemaker who has more than 25 years of experience in winemaking all across the most important regions of the country.

Quinta da Saudade, located in the Douro Superior, in Muxagata, municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa, was acquired in 2008 by winemaker Carlos Magalhães (aka Carloto) and five of his friends who had a common passion – wine, high-altitude vineyards and the Douro region.

Albano Magalhães; Bernardo Lobo Xavier; Carloto Magalhães; João Anacoreta; João Magalhães and Manuel Castro Lemos have a simple motto – to make the best wines in the Douro – wines of genuine palate; made exclusively from the Estate-grown grapes; that may compete with the best that’s made in the region.
